Minimum 8 GB for casual use. 16 GB is a safer choice for heavier multitasking or if you want the laptop to last several years. If doing video editing, 3D, big data etc., 32+ GB

Storage

Full HD (1920×1080) is the baseline. For creatives, higher resolution or better color‐accurate panels (IPS, OLED) are beneficial. screen size: 13-14″ for portability, 15-17″ for more workspace.

Graphics (GPU)

For non-graphics tasks, integrated is enough. For gaming or creative work: a mid or high-end GPU depending on your budget.

Battery life & Charging

Aim for a laptop that gives 8+ hours under normal use. Also check charging method (USB-C charging is convenient).

Keyboard & Trackpad

Try to test typing feel. Look for good key travel, backlight, a responsive trackpad. Number pad only if you frequently need it.

Other Useful Features

Fingerprint sensor or facial recognition for security, webcam quality, good speakers, cooling/ventilation, decent warranty/service in your region. Also check whether RAM/storage are upgradable.
